Do carpet fitters provide grippers?

Most of the time, you shouldn’t reuse old underlay. We recommend that you buy and fit new underlay at the same time as your new flooring. Old underlay can disintegrate as it ages, as well as harbour lots of dust and dirt. The thicker the underlay, the more cushioned your floor will feel underfoot.

Is it safe to use a gripper rod on carpet?
Carpet gripper rods are covered in sharp nails and pins that can easily become airborne when levered off the floor. Be careful, it’s not worth losing an eye to a carpet gripper. It’s also a good idea to wear gloves; the nails and pins are sharp and you don’t want to cut yourself.
How big should gripper rods be for interfloor?
The next step is to fit your grippers around the perimeter of the room, cutting the rods to size with a hacksaw when you reach the end of each wall. Ideally, you should leave a gap around the same thickness of your carpet between the skirting and the gripper (around 10mm).
