A total score is calculated for each inventory by summing its 20 items, and standardizing to t scores with a mean of 50 and a standard deviation of 10. The higher the youth’s t score on depression, anxiety, anger and destructive behaviour scales, the higher the distress the youth is experiencing.

The Children’s Depression Inventory (CDI and CDI2) is a psychological assessment that rates the severity of symptoms related to depression or dysthymic disorder in children and adolescents. The CDI is a 27-item scale that is self-rated and symptom-oriented.
How is CDI 2 scored?
All CDI 2 forms can be administered and scored using the MHS QuikScore™ format. The rater writes on the external layers of the form, and the results transfer through to a hidden scoring grid within the internal layers. The assessor then uses the internal layers for tabulating results.
How do you interpret the Beck Anxiety Inventory?
A total score of 0 – 7 is interpreted as a “Minimal” level of anxiety; 8 – 15 as “Mild”; 16 – 25 as “Moderate”, and; 26 – 63 as “Severe”. Clinicians examine specific item responses to determine whether the symptoms appear mostly subjective, neurophysiologic, autonomic, or panic-related.
How do you read BDI?
Cut-off score guidelines for the BDI-II are given with the recommendation that thresholds be adjusted based on the characteristics of the sample, and the purpose for use of the BDI-II. Total score of 0–13 is considered minimal range, 14–19 is mild, 20–28 is moderate, and 29–63 is severe.

How is BDI-y used in the treatment of depression?
For the purpose of assessing depression the BDI-Y should be administered, but administering all inventories is encouraged because of the high comorbidity of youth disorders (Mental Measurements Yearbook, 2010). Results from the inventories can be used for treatment planning and assessing post-treatment outcomes.
