Daley Mathison: Isle of Man TT competitor’s death ruled ‘tragic’ accident. An Isle of Man TT racer died after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into trees, an inquest heard. What happened Steve Mercer?
The superbike rider’s vehicle crashed into a safety car at the race near Ballacrye on the Isle of Man. Mercer, from Maidstone in Kent, was airlifted to Noble’s Hospital in Douglas before he was later flown off the island to Liverpool for further treatment late on Wednesday night.

It’s a public road. Go and ride it. You’ll have to be sensible around most of the island, but the mountain section from just after the Ramsey hairpin all the way to beyond Brandish, is unrestricted. More than 11 miles of open road over the fastest part of the course.
