Who was the chef from Bestia?
Ori Menashe is practically food royalty in Los Angeles, so any time he makes a move, we immediately take notice. Menashe is the chef and co-owner (along with his wife, pastry chef Genevive Gergis) of Bestia, which has picked up just about every award a restaurant can win since opening in 2012.

As time went on, that decision took a sharp turn when just a few months prior to opening in 2012, her obsession with sugar and her husband’s love of her desserts took reign and it was decided that she would take on the role as pastry chef.

Bavel opened in April 2018 from the founders of Bestia, which was already one of LA’s most popular and perpetually busy restaurants. Husband-and-wife chef team Ori Menashe and Genevieve Gergis opened Bestia back in 2013 in one of the city’s most unlikely locations — in the depths of the Arts District.
Does Bavel have a dress code?
There is no dress code, although remember it is in LA so you don’t want to look grungy. Dressing up a bit is part of the experience. over a year ago. Polite – business casual is good, doesn’t have to be formal !
What should I buy at Bavel?
The best dish at Bavel could well be the grilled oyster mushrooms, chewy as flank steak, with a bitter wild nettle purée and an electric sprinkle of tart sumac. Almost everything seems touched with fire and cumin; coarse salt and fresh mint.
