How wide should shutters be for double window?

When using vinyl shutters on windows that are wider than 50 inches, we recommend using double wide vinyl shutters….Shutter Width.

What size should shutters be compared to windows?

Shutter size should be between 25-50% of the window width in order to remain aesthetically pleasing. Never install house shutters that are wider than the window.

How do you measure for double window shutters?

The height of the shutter is usually the height of the opening, not counting the window sill. Double Windows: For double windows, divide the opening width by 4. For consistency, if the width is close to the measurements for your single windows, use the single width.

It is best to trim the shutters with a stationary power saw, like a power miter saw, a table saw or a radial arm saw, because it is difficult to make accurate cuts with a hand saw. Trim the bottom of the shutters first, but do not cut off more than three-quarters of an inch.

How thick should wood exterior shutters be?

The “slab dimensions” are the size of the actual exterior shutter from top to bottom, left to right, and the thickness. Our default standard thickness is 1 5/16″, but that can be varied from 7/8″ to 2 1/4″ to match existing exterior shutters. The length and height can be specified to the nearest 1/16″ inch.
